|

1-2 PM CST

With Alexa Starks — Maternity Leave Coach

Alexa Starks is a maternity leave coach, an award-winning workplace culture innovator, and the founder of Executive Moms, where she helps companies redesign the return-to-work experience after maternity leave and support working parents, as well as coach expecting & new moms on how to plan for maternity leave and to advocate for themselves and build career momentum again.

A seasoned executive with more than a decade in strategic operations and advertising, Alexa blends evidence-based leadership strategy with lived experience to address one of the most overlooked gaps in today’s workplace: the transition back to work after maternity leave.

Alexa is a speaker, a published author, mom of 2 toddlers, and a fierce advocate for working moms. Her work lives at the intersection of empathy, psychology, and execution, blending real-world leadership principles with the unspoken truths of modern parenthood.

What we'll cover:

Returning to work after having a baby often brings changes no one prepares you for, including shifts in confidence, ambition, identity, and what “sustainable” work actually looks like. Many working moms quietly wonder why things feel harder, different, or misaligned once they’re back and what they can actually do about it.

In this session, maternity leave coach Alexa Starks will explore the most common shifts new working moms experience after returning to work, why these changes are normal (not a failure), and how to navigate this season with more confidence and self-trust. Alexa will also touch on how planning for maternity leave can set you up for a smoother return, and how it’s still possible to renegotiate expectations, boundaries, and support even if you’re already back.

The final portion of the session will be open Q&A, with space for real questions from pregnant and working moms.

  • A clearer understanding of the identity and ambition shifts that often happen after returning to work

  • Language to make sense of why work feels different now and how to respond to it

  • Insight into what sustainability actually looks like as a working mom

  • Reassurance that it’s not too late to reset expectations or ask for support

  • Practical ways to think about self-advocacy without guilt or over-explaining

  • Space to ask real questions and feel less alone in the experience

Dr. Shivani Patel is an airway focused general dentist dedicated to helping children achieve optimal breathing, sleep, and facial development. With specialized training in pediatric growth, craniofacial development, early orthodontics, and airway centered dentistry, she works closely with parents to identify underlying issues that often go unnoticed; such as mouth breathing, tongue tie, poor sleep quality, behavioral changes, and narrow jaw development.

She believes that a child’s airway is the foundation for their entire well being. Through comprehensive assessments, advanced diagnostic tools, and a compassionate, educational approach, Dr. Shivani empowers moms with clarity and confidence. Her goal is to partner with families, helping them understand the root cause of their child’s symptoms and providing a roadmap that supports healthy growth, improved sleep, emotional regulation, and long term oral health.
